Borders around grass or paving give a neat finish to your garden area. The easiest, most cost-effective way is to remove around 5cm of ground where the border is needed, trying to keep a distinctive edging to your garden or paving, a good way of making sure the edges a smooth is to use the wooden edging to separate the areas. Place weed membrane down over the desired area and fill on top with a gravel or slate chipping of your choice such as Golden Gravel or Moonstone, if a rounded effect is more your thing then have a look at Quartz Gravel or Yorkshire Cream. Slate products provide a modern feel and look great, all of which will finish off the area beautifully, Grey slate is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to the already very popular Plum Slate. If you could use some colour in the garden try Green Granite, Cotswold Chippings or Red Granite.
